We are currently looking for a Head of IT on a permanent contract.

The successful candidate will be systematic and an excellent problem-solver, have demonstrable people management skills, and be passionate about providing our clients with the best service and care.

The Head of IT (H IT) is an influential role leading the IT team that supports over 500 staff and thousands of clients based across the UK. This is a critical role in delivering Migrant Help’s evolving digital vision and strategy with an emphasis on integrity, IT Security, and technological innovation. As the H IT you will continually seek ways and opportunities to improve the technical and data related services provided to our staff and clients, and will play a key role in the management, monitoring and maintenance of all elements of IT and be heavily involved in on‐going technical projects and supporting contractual and ISO standards and cyber resilience.

As the Head of IT your duties would include:

IT Service Delivery Leadership:

  • Manage IT initiatives alongside MH service delivery team, making recommendations to Senior management for IT systems and processes.
  • Support and manage all IT related projects and upgrades.
  • Support Migrant Help’s regulatory compliance, ensuring IT practices comply with our ISO27001, Cyber Essentials &Plus obligations.
  • Participate in the Information Governance Group, and maintain awareness of technology-related legislation, standards, and changes.
  • Identify and recommend new technology solutions that meet business needs.
  • Formulate, implement and train cyber resilience, business continuity, and disaster recovery into MH policies and processes.

IT Strategy

  • Develop a strategic vision and operating plan for IT, a digital transformation plan, translating strategy into accountable SMART goals/objectives, cascaded through staff objectives.
  • Develop audience-focused reporting for IT risks and opportunities to senior decision makers
  • Lead on strategic sourcing of new suppliers and develop compelling business cases for proposed software/hardware procurements

People management:

  • Line manage and support the development of IT staff
  • Mentor IT Managers, setting clear career development objectives and promoting skill development
  • Identify gaps and deliver strategic workforce planning within the IT team and suppliers
  • Build clear roles and cascaded, strategy-aligned responsibilities into the IT workforce

The experience and skills you need:

  • ​Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, data management, cybersecurity
  • Proven knowledge of IT system administration (eg MS 365, MS Dynamics, Azure)
  • Experience delivering high-quality service with MSP support, and measuring performance
  • Excellent organization, project management and planning skills
  • Effective and cost efficient budget management, and ability to produce evidence-based cost-benefit analyses for IT investments and change initiatives

  • This is a homeworking role, however there may be occasion where travel is required for meetings or training events.
